GLOBAL PROJECTS

YOUTH AMBASSADORS

Each year from July to December, we run a program to enlist young people around the world to be a World Literacy Foundation ambassadors in their school and community. In 2018 we had more than 300 youth ambassadors from 35 countries, and we expect to increase these numbers in 2019.

People aged 12 to 24 years old, passionate about literacy and global development are welcome to participate in this program, where they can be trained and prepared to be global leaders to advocate and fundraise for eradicating global inequality and illiteracy.

Registrations will be opened from February 1 until June 30, 2019.

INTERNATIONAL LITERACY DAY

UNESCO declared September 8  as the International Literacy Day (ILD) and since 1967 ILD is celebrated annually all around the world to commemorate the importance of literacy in our daily lives and as a human right.

Every year, on September 8, we facilitate a campaign with schools across the globe for International Literacy Day. The aim is to create greater awareness, education, and understanding with students on the importance of literacy in their lives.

Around 4.000 schools join us every year by conducting an ILD themed event, activity or fundraising to celebrate this day and give students the opportunity to discover the joys of reading while raising awareness for those without access to education.
